The 5C Women’s Club Volleyball Team has been an active athletic group for many years. Our level of competition has continued to rise, taking us to competitions across Southern California and Nationals. We play in the SCCVL, a league that includes club teams from UCLA, UC Irvine, and UC San Diego. This has allowed us to travel across the United States, including to Kansas City, Missouri in 2023 and Phoenix, Arizona in 2022 and 2025 for Nationals. In 2025, we became the Women’s D2AA National Champions. We are a team made up of female-identifying students from each of the Claremont Colleges and strive each year to form a competitive and cohesive team.
Our captains, Logan Fowler (Mudd ’27), Mei Saphir (Scripps ’28), Elena Miller (Mudd ’26), and Kate Huefner (Mudd ’26) are currently leading this year’s team and are excited to bring the team to new heights and hopefully bring home some awards this season.
Every fall we host tryouts where players have multiple opportunities to show their skills to the captains and to our coach. We aim to offer spots to as many players as possible, however, due to the high level of competition we face, our tournament team consists of our strongest 14-16 players. We also accept about 6-8 practice players. For those interested in trying out next year, email us at 5cwomensvb@gmail.com and we can make sure you are on email lists for the following year. We will also host open gyms for all students so everyone can still have access to playing time before tryouts. Be on the lookout for information regarding fundraiser events for the 5C student body in the following months and thanks for all your continued support over the years!
