FOCUS 2 Career is an online, interactive, self-guided career and education planning system designed to help you make decisions about your academic major, future career goals, and education plans.
It is your personalized platform for exploring majors and discovering career paths—with over 1,000 occupations matched to Pomona College’s own academic major offerings. It’s the starting point for your Sagehen Career Journey: understanding how your strengths, values, personality, and skills connect to the full power of your liberal arts education and a future career path.
Let’s Get Started!
Step 1: Log in to FOCUS 2 with your Pomona SSO
Visit focus2career.pomona.edu and sign in with your Pomona Single Sign-On. Your Pomona credentials unlock everything—no extra registration needed.
Take the career assessments and quizzes to learn more about yourself, connect your skills and interests to Pomona College majors, and find possible career paths that fit YOU! You can take all of the available assessments, or you can choose a few that are most relevant to your exploration right now.
Step 2: Understand where you are in Your Sagehen Career Journey
Reflect on which phase of the Sagehen Career Journey you’re currently in, so that every step feels intentional, not overwhelming. For each phase, check out the resources, recommended FOCUS 2 assessments, and suggested tasks to assist you in moving forward toward a purposeful goal.
Step 3: Schedule an Appointment with a CDO Advisor
Bring your FOCUS 2 results and any other questions you have to a career advising appointment to discuss your next steps. Your results give advisors a richer picture of you—making every conversation more focused and more yours.
Checking in with a CDO Advisor (and attending Drop-in hours with Peer Advisors) can help keep you on track, access key resources tailored to YOUR career journey, and stay updated on employer and campus events.
Step 4: Learn to leverage your Liberal Arts degree
The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has developed a “Competencies for a Career-Ready Workforce” which is comprised of eight core competencies that will prepare you for the world of work. Review these competencies on the CDO’s webpage: “Your Skills At Work: The Liberal Arts Advantage”, and reflect on which of your experiences at Pomona College have helped you to be career-ready. If you notice areas where you need more support, visit the CDO so we can assist you in identifying ways to build toward these skills.
What FOCUS 2 Offers:
Choose from 8 different assessments (or “quizzes”) that give you insight into your academic strengths, career readiness, work interests, values, personality traits, leisure preferences, and skills.
Review your results for each assessment separately OR select a few assessments to “combine your results” to see which occupations match your unique preferences and abilities.
It is highly recommended that you meet with a CDO Advisor to review your results together and have a deeper conversation to best understand how to use your results to pursue your goals, as you take the next-steps of your career journey!

FOCUS 2 allows you to explore Pomona College’s unique majors, mapped to over 1,000 occupations with real-world data, including salary ranges, job outlook, qualifications and skills needed, and day-to-day details — all filtered to what actually fits your profile.
You can save majors and occupations that interest you, and revisit them as you brainstorm ways to move forward in your career journey.
You can enter your academic and professional development experiences into FOCUS 2, as a way to record your past experiences, store application materials, track networking opportunities, and set goals for your future.
Note: “work” does not have to be a paid position. You gain “work experience” and develop your skills through a variety of experiences: volunteer and community service, internships (paid and unpaid), extracurricular and leadership activities, class projects, research opportunities, and jobs.
